Surah Mulk is the most widely used verse in the entire Quran. The Surah is divided into 2 sections i.e. Dua and Wudhu, and one of the most important verses for all Muslims are Surah Mulk.

The Surah begins with the statement 'It is He Who has made you an object of worship and made you observe the verses of worship, in order that you may be grateful'. This verse states that Allah has created mankind as a worshiped object and for that reason is very thankful to him. So far we know that humans were created to serve man.

The second verse is similar to verse one but is different in content. In verses 4 Allah is saying that man was created as a worshiped object to receive the honor of Allah. Now the verse only contains two different statements.

The Surah then begins with verse 5 'It is He Who has made the moon to be a mark in respect of us and a sign in respect of our people; and on the earth it is He Who has made the land to be a mark in respect of us and a sign in respect of our people.' The next two verses are Dua and Wudhu. The verses of Dua state that man has been created to give honor to Allah. And the verses of Wudhu state that man was created to give honor to Allah.

The next verse starts with verse 6 'And it is He Who has made you in form as an object of worship and made you observe the verses of worship, in order that you may be grateful'. The first part of the verse is a reminder that mankind was created to worship Allah. The second part of the verse explains the good of human life. The beauty of human life is a reward of those who live good lives.

The final verse in Surah Mulk is 'and made you to be thankful for what Allah has sent down, the revelation, which He has revealed to you and that He inspired you with, and He has made it lawful and blameless for you, and He has enjoined on you His favor, so that you might worship Him, and be grateful'. The Surah continues with the reminder of the power of our Creator, his goodness, his Mercy and his Blessings. All of these things are in the work of Allah.

The Surah has an eternal meaning. The verse not only talks about what man has been created to do but also what man can do to make Allah's favor more apparent and his blessings more prevalent. Allah is not only omnipotent but He is exalted above everything and He is free from all limitations and boundless to everything.

The next time when you read Surah Mulk remember this verse and make it part of your daily prayers. You will be thankful to Allah for what you have been created to do and for all the blessings He has granted to you.
